IPSV

Intimate Partner Sexual Violence

Focus

Give tools to advocates so they can feel comfortable about speaking with survivors. For advocates
  • to gain comfort in being able to hear the issues,
  • being able to respond appropriately to the issues
  • avoid any kind of re-traumitization of the victim
  • help survivors understand that what they experienced was not anything they asked for or deserved
  • Survivors don’t usually bring this up initially. May show up further down the road
  • Carries a lot of shame and taking on responsibility of “I didn’t protect myself, I didn’t know that marital rape was something I could say was happening, I didn’t know that I had a right to say no.”

Class dates: August 16, 23, 30, September 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. -12:45 p.m. EDT
